Meizu, the Chinese consumer electronics company based in Zhuhai, Guangdong, has managed to clear a new smartphone with TENAA, the Chinese certification service. Two devices have been listed: the M612Q and the M612M. The catch is that both the models submitted for certification are exactly the same. We believe that these models are the Meizu M5S. The M5S has also cleared 3C, the China Compulsory Certification.
Meizu M5S Specs and Features
The Meizu M5S is powered by an octa-core 1.3GHz processor, possibly the MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor that comes with the Mali-T860 GPU, as reported here. It sports a 5.2-inch HD screen with 1280 × 720-pixel resolution. The smartphone has three variations of RAM at 2, 3 or 4 GB. Internal memory options will include 16, 32 and 64GB. The listing shows the storage is expandable up to 128 GB. The Meizu M5S will sport a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front snapper. The device is lightweight at just 138 grammes and the phone’s dimensions are 148.2 × 72.53 × 8.4mm. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Flyme 5.2 out of the box and will support dual-SIMs. It packs a moderately powerful 2,930mAh battery. The phone will come in three colour variants: silver grey, gold, and rose gold.
No official launch date is forthcoming but it can be expected that Meizu will to unveil the device soon, possibly at the CES 2017 event in January 2017. The CES will start on January 5 and go on until the 8th. 2016 has been a good year for Meizu as devices like the Meizu M3X, Meizu PRO 6 Plus and the Meizu M5 Note have been launched in the last few months alone. Meizu has seen revenues $451.5 million in the last year and is growing. TENAA certification is one of the last stages a phone has to overcome before its release.
