The world of gadget was taken by a storm when the Google Pixel and the Xiaomi Mi Mix made its appearance in the month of October this year. And after few days have passed we are here with a comparative study of the two incredible smartphones from Google and Xiaomi. Since the arrival of both the brands in the world of smartphones, we have seen some exceptional smartphones from them. The Google Pixel which was previously named as the Google Nexus and the Xiaomi Mi Mix are few of those latest smartphones which bear a close resemblance as far as the features of the devices are concerned.
Google Pixel vs Xiaomi Mi Mix: Design
The first thing that grabs the attention of the user of a smartphone is the design. And both the devices from Google and Xiaomi look really great from outside. The Xiaomi Mi Mix comes with a 6.4-inch display while the Google Pixel has a 5.0-inch display. Other than that there is not much of a difference as far as these two smartphones are concerned. Both have a support for the full HD display. The Google Pixel sports an AMOLED display, but the Mi Mix has got an IPS LCD display. Other than these both the devices come with Ambient Light Sensor, Multi-touch and Proximity Sensor. Thus it can be remarked that it is even-Stevens as far as the display of both the devices are concerned although Mi Mix has a bigger screen.
Processor
There also not much of a difference between the Google Pixel and the Xiaomi Mi Mix when it comes to the processors. The Google Pixel sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor; two core clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2.15 GHz. The Xiaomi Mi Mix also sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with four cores, two of those clocked at 2.19 GHz and the other two at 2.35 GHz. Both the smartphones employ Adreno 530 as their GPU. Thus there isn’t much of a difference although the average effect of the higher clocked dual-core processors in the Xiaomi Mi Mix will be a tad better than the Google Pixel. The Google Pixel arrived on the market with an Android 7.1 Nougat operating system while the Xiaomi Mi Mix came out with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
RAM and Internal Storage
The Xiaomi Mi Mix comes with a 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM coupled with a UFS memory of 128 GB. A variant of the Xiaomi Mi Mix is also available with a 256 GB internal memory. The Google Pixel comes with a similar sort of specifications – 4 GB RAM and 128 GB UFS 2.0 memory. The Google Pixel is also available in the market with a 32 GB variant. Neither of the devices provides the users with a facility to expand the memory which eventually shares the honours between the two in the RAM and internal memory section.
Xiaomi Mi Mix vs Google Pixel: Camera
Both the devices sport incredible camera features and that is not a surprise at all. It was expected that both the devices would have great camera features and the expectations did not turn to be false ones when the devices made their appearance in the month of October this year. The Google Pixel sports a 12.3-megapixel camera on the back. It is associated with a f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), dual-tone LED flash and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). The selfie shooter is 8 megapixels and is also assisted by a f/2.0 aperture alongside video recording at 1080 pixels resolution.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix is also one of the smartphones in the market which have grabbed the attention of the users base on its credibility in the camera section. It comes with a 16-megapixel camera which is assisted by the f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and EIS very much like its competitor – the Google Pixel. However, it is in the secondary camera that Google Pixel rates way above Xiaomi Mi Mix. The MIX comes with a simple 5-megapixel camera while the selfie shooter in the Pixel has a number of additional features. Google Pixel wins this round of the battle simply for a much better selfie camera and with the kind of usage the selfie cam has these days it is can easily turn out to be a deciding factor like what has happened here.
Battery
The Google Pixel comes with a 2,700 mAh battery backup while the Xiaomi Mi Mix comes with a 4,400 mAh powerful battery. Both the devices have fast charging technologies incorporated within. And hence simply on the massive back, it can be said that Xiaomi wins this bout as they have a clear upper hand over Google Pixel when it comes to the battery.
Additional Features
There isn’t much of a difference between the two devices when it comes to the additional features as both the devices are equipped with almost similar kind of sensors. Both devices come equipped with Accelerometer, Barometer, Digital Compass, Fingerprint ID, GPS, Gyroscope and Magnetometer as add-ons. The Google Pixel comes with an additional IP 53 certification which protects it from Splash and dust particles.
Price
The Google Pixel with 32 GB internal memory has come out with a price tag of $650 while the one with a higher internal memory has a price tag of about $750. But the Xiaomi Mi Mix is available at a much lower price. The 128 GB one comes with a $515 price tag while the 256 GB one has a $590 price tag. Thus we can have the almost similar type of a smartphone as that of the Google Pixel at a much lower price.
Google Pixel vs Xiaomi Mi Mix: Final Verdict
We can conclude that the Google Pixel and the Xiaomi Mi Mix are equipped with some fabulous specifications. But the thing that makes Xiaomi Mi Mix the winner of the conflict is the lower price. There is very little to choose from either of the devices and it is the price where a huge difference can be noticed which somewhat rules the final verdict in favour of the China-based smartphone making brand. But that does not at all bring us to a conclusion that Google Pixel is not a worthy competitor of the Xiaomi Mi Mix. In fact, one who is ready to break the bank and get a better selfie camera, that person should definitely go for the smartphone from the house of Google. Otherwise, one can rely on the Xiaomi Mi Mix in order to get a magnificent smartphone in hand.
