Google is known for its innovation and this time it is bringing its expertise in the kitchen, as on Wednesday, the American multinational company has announced that its smart speaker Google Home, will soon be able to give step-by-step verbal instructions of more than five million recipes.
This latest feature has been made possible with the help of Google Assistant, a virtual helper, that has been integrated into Google Home and Google’s Pixel Phones. The update for the same will be rolled out next week.
Last week, we reported to you that Google Home is now capable of recognizing and responding to six different speakers.
Virtual assistance is not anything new. Amazon’s smart speaker Amazon Echo comes with the virtual assistant Amazon Alexa. It can read out recipes to you, but the instructions come at one go, which means you can’t go back if you missed a step. This is where Google Home differs. It gives instructions one by one at a time and gives you the option to repeat a step, thereby making the cooking process more interactive, as per The Verge.
In order for it to work, you first have to find a recipe through Google Assitant on your Android phone or through the Google search app in iOS or Android. You then have to select the “Send To Google Home” button for your recipe. Follow this by saying “Ok Google, start cooking” or “Ok Google, start recipe” to your Google Home. After this, all you have to do is to just follow the instruction that Google Home gives you.
Now, if you are wondering as to where these recipes are coming from, let us assure you that they have been hand-picked from some of the best culinary magazines and publications in the world, including Food Network, Bon Appetit and The New York Times. However, you have to remember that the step-by-step instructions on Google Home will not appear for recipes that you find outside of Google Assistant or Google Search.
