Samsung, the South Korean technological giant, has decided to target the one category in the mobile phone business which it is yet to rule completely: the mid-range group. To that end, it had earlier announced that the next launch would be the Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime (2018). This is the direct successor to the Galaxy On7 (2017) which we have reported on earlier.
Just a week ago, we had reported how the new Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime (2018) would launch on the 17 of January. The launch date is still the same. A few days ago, Samsung had also sent out invites for the launch event to be held in Gurugram. Now, Samsung has yet to officially announce the name; the listing on Amazon, however, spills the beans.
The GFXBench listing of the Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime (2018) also shows off the full specs and features. The Galaxy On7 Prime (2018) seems to sport a 5.5-inch FHD display that boasts a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. We do not expect the full-screen design aboard this mid-range smartphone; that is because the screen resolution is standard and is similar to the comparable phones that have 16:9 displays.
Peek under its hood, and we shall see a 1.5GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 SoC, developed by Samsung itself, and one which is based on the 14nm process. The Galaxy On7 Prime may ultimately be launched in two variants – one will have 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage space; the more premium will have a very decent 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage space. Both the variants will also support expandable storage space of up to 256GB when using a microSD card, the GFXBench report states.
Onboard is a 12MP primary rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a LED flash. This is complemented by a 12MP selfie camera out front that has a similar aperture but sans the flash module. The new Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime will run on the Android 7.1 Nougat OS with a touch of Samsung’s own UI. The pricing and availability details will be revealed on January 17.
