Since the last few weeks, WhatsApp has been receiving a slew of new features. This is reported to improve the experience of the users while using the instant messaging platform. While most of these features were intended for Android users, WhatsApp for iPhone with version number 2.18.80 has now received a new feature. This feature will allow the users to send group messages on the platform using Siri.
To recall, WhatsApp had rolled out an update in 2016 that allowed users to send individual messages using your voice through Siri. The new update will now allow you to send group messages as well. Alongside the Siri integration, the new update is also reported to add the ability to display images and GIFs directly on the notification. Addition of this new feature means you no longer have to open WhatsApp to check out the images or GIFs sent by your contact on the platform.
In order to send a group message on WhatsApp using Siri, you have to launch Siri first by long pressing the home button or saying ‘Hey Siri”. Then you have to use the voice command “Send a message to WhatsApp group (name)”. If there is more than one group with the same name, Siri will list them together for you. Now you have to tap ‘right now’ from the list and speak your message. Once Siri has typed the message, you have to instruct Siri to send the message to the group.
In addition to this feature, a WABetaInfo report states that you can now make use of the Peek and Pop gesture on the notification panel to take a look at the GIFs or images sent by your contacts on WhatsApp. The report also states that you can download the mages or GIFs directly from the notification panel without opening the particular message. The feature will work on all iPhones running on iOS 10 and later, although it is yet to be rolled out to all the users.
