As per the latest reports, the LG V20 has started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo via an over-the-air (OTA) update. The update with build number V20c-JUL-06-2018 is initially being rolled out on devices with model number F800L, F800K, and F800S in South Korea. The handset was launched globally in September 2016 as the first smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat. The device was later made available in India with a price tag of Rs 54,999. The latest update will take the device at par with the current generation of smartphones.
The Android Oreo update for the LG v20 comes with a size of 1.GB as reported by MyLGPhones. Talking about the other features, the update also includes a new privacy policy. It also includes an improved blue light filter that can be accessed through ‘Comfort View’. In addition, it features at least 10 new levels of adjustments for the filter. The update brings improved icon shapes and settings layout along with the ability to hide the home button while accessing apps.
In addition to these features, the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V20 also includes battery and performance optimizations that can block apps running in the background to limit the battery and RAM usage. There is also a notification badge on the app icons to display the number of notifications. In addition, users can also manage notifications directly from one place.
As of now, it is still not clear when the update will be made available by LG to users outside South Korea. However, since the update has been rolled out, we can expect the same to be made available in other countries including India very soon.
You can manually check for the availability of the update on your LG V20 device by heading to Settings> Updates. As the update has a size of 1.6GB, it is recommended to download the same using a secure WiFi or a stable and reliable data connection.
