Chinese tech giant Huawei launched their latest smartphone the Honor 5X, today in China. This metal-clad handset comes with a finger print sensor and also known as the Honor Glory Play 5X. This latest device from Honor is available in two variants – with 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM, priced at CNY 999 or $157 (roughly Rs. 10,200) and CNY 1,399 or $220 (roughly Rs. 14,300) respectively. Though the company officials have not mentioned anything yet about the availability of this 4G-enabled smartphone outside China.
The Honor 5X runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the EMUI 3.1 skin on top and also come in a dual-SIM version (Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM) with dual-4G standby support. The handset sports a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution. Apart from that the phone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC (four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7GHz + four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.2GHz) processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU.
The inbuilt 16 GB internal storage capacity on the Honor 5X can be further expanded via MicroSD card up to 128GB. The device also sports a 13-megapixel rear shooter with dual-LED flash accompanied with 28mm wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and Blue Glass IR filter. Honor 5X also housed with an amazing 5-megapixel front-facing camera featured with various aspects like 22mm wide-angle, f/2.2 aperture, Blue Glass filter, 4P Lens and a shooting range of 88 degrees for better selfie taking capabilities.
The Honor 5X is powered with a 3000mAh battery, which is claimed to deliver up to 1.46 days of regular usage time and up to 1.01 days of heavy usage time. The phone supports Quick Charge 3.0, which can charge up to 50 % battery in just 30 minutes. The most highlighted selling point of this phone that it features a fingerprint sensor with Huawei’s latest ‘Fingerprint 2.0’ technology, which is claimed to unlock the handset in mere 0.4 seconds. The sensor is sited on the rear panel,beneath the camera.
Honor 5X includes plenty of connectivity options such as USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE (FDD and TDD). As per the dimension, this handset measure 151.3×76.3×8.15mm, weighs 158 grams, and will be available in two color variants, Gold and Silver.
Huawei started taking pre-order for the Honor 5X from right away today, while it will be up for sale on November 3rd in China. But keep in mind one thing that this phone will officially be sold only in China in the initial stages, so the price fixed for this phone will apply only for that market, while when the phone will arrive to the Western markets it’s likely to feature an inflated price due to various taxes.
