Meizu Pro 5 Release Reportedly Delayed till November Due to Flood

Meizu unveiled their latest flagship device, the Pro 5, at an event in Beijing last month and was  scheduled to go on sale from the coming Monday,12th October. But this China-based company has been forced to delay the availability of this smartphone until November.

According to the Chinese website GizChina , a typhoon that recently hit southern China  caused flood at the company’s factory in Guangdong and eventually delayed the launch of the Pro 5. The company representatives also confirmed that the Guangdong factory affected by this vicious flood was used to manufacture the body chassis of the handset. Though Meizu  as of now has not revealed  whether any other production line of its devices has been damaged  by the flood or not.

For your information, Meizu unveiled  the Pro 5 last month  and the phone will come in two variants – 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM with storage capacity of 32GB marked  price at CNY 2,799 (almost  Rs. 29,000) and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM with storage capacity of 64GB marked price at CNY 3,099 (almost Rs. 32,100). Chinese mobile tycoon, Meizu started taking reservation for the handset soon after the unveiling event and had promised to ship it on October 12 in China. But in consequence of the flood and the factory mishap, the device is now expected to be released sometime in November in China. Meizu also earlier revealed their plan to bring this handset to India as early as the end of this year, but that seems is in troubled water too. We may have to wait till early next year to lay hand on this phone.

The Meizu Pro 5 designed with an all metal body and like other Meizu handsets, consists of a physical home button that works as a fingerprint scanner too. The handset sports a 5.7-inch (1080×1920 pixels resolution) Super Amoled display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and 2.5D for better protection. The display dons a pixel density of 387 pixels per inch. Meizu Pro 5 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 octa-core processor (quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 + quad-core 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 ) coupled with Mali T760 MP8 GPU. The internal storage of this phone is 32 GB and can be expanded via microSD card (which can be used only as a substitute of the second SIM).

This smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports dual Nano-SIM cards which supports 4G LTE on both the SIMs. The Pro 5 incorporates LTE Cat. 6 which offer download speeds of up to 300Mbps in the TDD LTE 4G frequency band. This handset also features a 21.16-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX 230 CMOS sensor, dual-tone flash and f/2.2 aperture. The primary camera comes with Blue glass filter and provides Panorama, burst mode, phase detection auto focusing and laser focusing features. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies.

The smartphone is powered by 3050mAh battery and comes with mCharge 2.0 technology that offers up to 65 percent charge in just 30 minutes. Another notable feature of this brand new Meizu Pro 5 is it comes packed with USB Type-C port. Dimension wise this phone measures 156.7x78x7.5mm and weighs only 168 grams.
