‘Android One’ Phone GM5 Plus Unveiled at MWC 2016

The GM 5 Plus isn’t General Mobile’s first one with Android One. To remind, with Google’s partnership General Mobile had launched Europe’s first Android One smartphone last year. Experts opine that this is quiet possibly the best looking Android One phone ever. That’s not a surprise though, because the last device, GM4 was very pretty as well. Despite being  budget phone, the GM5 looks and feels like a flagship smartphone and works without any stutter or lag. There aren’t many option in the new General Mobile 5 for users to complain of. In this post we are going to keep everything on table and discuss what exactly the device has to offer. As for the price GM5 is around $300 (approximately Rs. 20,500).

Since 2014, Google has been pushing Android One which were meant to be low-budget smartphones with that has the capability of receiving quick, Nexus-like updates directly from Google. Ofcourse, to make the phones low cost, a number of compromises will have to be made. Currently Android One has spread over 22 countries and since its initial push into India, the company is now heading towards Europe-Russia-Turkey-Middle East markets. The GM5 will hit Turkey at the end of March and then move on to 15 more countries.

The phone comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. Its  powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processorwhich is clubbed with with 3GB of RAM. The in-built intrenal memory is 32GB which can be expanded up to 128GB via a Micro SD card. One highlight of the device is that it supports USB Type C, and Qulacomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 that allegedly charge the device up to 60 percent in 30 minutes. Another highlight of the GM 5 Plus is it sports 13-megapixel front and rear cameras.

The General Mobile 5 Plus runs Android 6.0.1 and is helped by a 3100mAh non removable battery to function fast and effectively. The handset is a single Micro-SIM (GSM) device that offers connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 4G. Plus sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope.

We’ve already said the the GM 5 Plus is possibly the prettiest smartphone out there. Its super sleek looking with a plastic-textured back. The power button is located in the right side of the device works with any lag or worry. Its available in four different colours – gray, rose gold, gold, and silver and comes with rounded corners and a metal frame that make the smartphone look beautiful. As of now, the GM5 Plus is not available in U.S. and will hit Turkey at the end of March before moving on to 15 more countries.
