Xiaomi Mi 5 Launch Date and Live Streaming

Xiaomi’s Mi 5 will be launched on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona. Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior Vice President Liwan Jiang had revealed the launch date on their Weibo account. In the same day the device will hit the market in China. Launch of the handset will be live steamed via YouTube. After month’s of speculations, the company has finally sent out invitation for the launch of Xiaomi Mi 5. This global event will take place in a number of major cities – New York, Barcelona and New Delhi.  The event will begin at:

  • Barcelona: 9 AM CET
  • New York: 3 AM EST
  • New Delhi: 1:30 PM IST

To recall, the device will have a 5.2-inch full-HD display and feature pressure-sensitive touchscreen which’ll be similar to similar to Apple’s 3D Touch technology. It’ll run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.1GHz. The handset comes with 3GB of RAM, two memory and storage versions – 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage, and runs on MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The device will be backed by a 3000mAh battery and when it comes to sensors,the device will have feature fingerprint (ultrasound), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer. As for camera, it’ll have 16-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel selfie camera. The hanset will also support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, USB type-C 1.0 reversible connector among other amazing features.

Unfortunately, it’s not yet clear whether the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available in the United States or Europe. So far, Xiaomi has only officially sold its phones in Asia.
