Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu has revealed the teasers of two upcoming smartphone launches that will be introduced just before the commencement of IFA 2016. The upcoming launch will pertain to a new sub-brand under Huawei. Rumours had earlier stated that the Chinese smartphone makers were close to unveiling the brand’s new smartphones Mate S2 and the Mate 9; however, Yu has clarified that these will not be the devices to be launched at the stipulated event hinted at by the teasers.
The teasers were posted on Chinese social networking platform Weibo and were first picked up by Android Pure. The teasers hint at the shape of a smartphone designed with curved edges and a rectangular panel on the back with the camera module embedded in it. They also showcase what looks like a circular secondary shooter at the front side. The pictures feature a slogan that says, “Defy Expectations.” However, other than these, there isn’t much information available about what new devices the company plans to introduce.
Android Pure reports that the upcoming phone’s lack of a dual camera set up exempts it from being the rumoured Mate 9. According to other reports, Huawei officials have also recently confirmed that the Mate series will not have an immediate launch and that the upcoming launches will feature an entirely new series of smartphones.
Reputed leakster Evan Blass tweeted yesterday that that Huawei might be launching two new smartphones under its Nova series, named Nova and Nova Plus, along with MediaPad M3 tablet at IFA. The Nova is a line directed towards an entirely female customer base.
Amidst all these speculations, it is impossible to know for sure what the company has up its sleeve, so we will have to wait to hear more from Huawei officials themselves.
