It is hard for a relatively new Indian company to be listed among the most desirable names to buy a smartphone from. One way to appeal to smartphone buyers in India during present times is to launch offerings that combine some of the latest features on the market with a sensible price point.
Noida company Lava seems to be heading in that direction with its newly launched Lava A68 smartphone. The phone that was listed on the company’s website along with its full specs last month saw its official launch yesterday at the budget price of Rs. 4,599. The 3G enabled smartphone will be available at all leading stores across India with one year’s manufacturing warranty.
Coming to its specifications, the Lava A68 is equipped with a 4.5 inch FWVGA display with a pixel resolution of 800 x 480. It also sports a 5-megapixel primary camera equipped with a LED flash, along with a VGA camera (0.3 MP) on the front that will allow for selfies.
In addition, the Lava A68 is a dual SIM offering that runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. To quote the makers of the A68, the new launch makes them “one of the few brands to offer the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS version at an extremely competitive price of Rs. 4,599.”
The new Lava A68 is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and it comes with 1 GB of RAM. Internal storage offered is 8 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB via a microSD card. It is powered by a decent 1,750 mAh battery. The smartphone offers 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS regarding connectivity options.
Besides all these, the A68 offers some exciting features. Smart screen gestures like Smart Screenshot allows scrolling pages to be transformed into a single image. Other features include the Video PIP, which lets users open any video and play it in the background while working on any other document, a Smart Music feature, as well as the option of enabling LED flash during incoming calls to make finding the phone easier as it rings.The Lava A68 comes in three colors- Black, Gold, and Silver.
In order to make the A68 more cost effective and to increase its production rate, Lava has announced that they are planning to manufacture the phone entirely in India. At present, the phones are assembled in Noida while the chips, as well as other internal components, are designed in China.
