Rumours of the alleged successor to Xiaomi’s Mi Note smartphone, expected to be named the Mi Note 2, have been in regular circulation since the success of the former. Several sources have since been abuzz with new details that keep surfacing from time to time about its design and specifications, many of which seem to be credible despite the company not providing any verifications.
Earlier, we had heard reports that the new phone will come in two versions, a flat screened as well as a curved screen variant. Now ahead of its expected unveiling on September 5, 2016, a new leaked image of the alleged Mi Note 2’s front glass panel shows off the phone’s dual curved display. According to this leak, the rumoured 5.7-inch display of the Mi Note 2 (similar to its predecessor) will resemble the display panel of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with its dual-edge design.
The picture of the front panel also clearly shows a cutout area meant for the phone’s physical home button, which is expected to feature a fingerprint scanner embedded into it. The Mi logo can also be spotted at the top left side of the phone, something which is usually meant exclusively for Xiaomi’s more expensive models.
As far as the display resolution is concerned, the flat screened variant and the dual-edged variant of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will also differ on that front, according to several reports, with the base model offering 1080p and the premium version featuring QHD resolution. The basic version may come equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, while the premium model will reportedly feature 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. They are expected to set users back by CNY 2,499 (INR 25,000 approx.) and CNY 2,799 (INR 28,000 approx.) respectively. Both the variants will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. The phone will be powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3600 mAh battery. The Mi Note 2 is expected to launch in two colours, black and white.
