Xiaomi unveils Xiaomi Mix smartphone with Edgeless Display, 4,400 mAh Battery

Xiaomi Mix: The world has been looking forward to Xiaomi‘s big launch event that took place today, where the reveal that was the most heavily anticipated was the Mi Note 2 with its dual-curved display. Following the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 7, a number of smartphone makers seem to have proclaimed Samsung’s Edge design as their new favourite, adopting the display type for some of their high-end offerings. Besides the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the upcoming Huawei Mate 9 phablet is also speculated to offer a curved-screen variant for its premium model. But another announcement at today’s launch event by Xiaomi has proved that the company is more than capable of thinking beyond existing norms in smartphone design.

Xiaomi Mix

Xiaomi today took a step towards the future by unveiling a new concept smartphone called the Xiaomi Mix. The most striking feature of the smartphone that is bound to hit users is its impressive screen to body ratio of 91.1 percent.

The Xiaomi Mix sports an almost non-existent bezel on all three sides barring the bottom part, and the screen is a whopping 6.4 inches. However, the huge screen size does not necessarily mean that the smartphone will be much bigger than the existing array of devices available in te market. In fact, Xiaomi claims that the Mix will be comparable with the iPhone 7 Plus in its size. The lack of wasted space around the screen means that users will be able to enjoy a much better viewing experience without the discomfort of having to hold an overly big device in their hands.

But the huge screen means that Xiaomi will be needed to make some changes to the existing set of features that are usually found on a smartphone’s front panel. However, it seems that Xiaomi has already taken all that into account. The company says that the new smartphone may go the reverse route and place the camera on the bottom bezel, and the traditional infrared proximity sensor will be replaced by an ultrasonic one. For its earpiece, the Xiaomi Mix will be relying on the Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology.

Some of the other features of the Xiaomi Mix smartphone are a Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, a 16-megapixel camera unit, and a massive 4,400mAh battery.
