We already know that Samsung will pull out the big guns to bring out a smartphone that will rival Apple‘s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. One of the massive upgrades that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will pack in to really step into the competition happens to do with the camera feature. According to earlier reports, not only will the new flagship come equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back, but a big function of the brand new chipset that the Galaxy S8 is expected to come with will be to support the high-quality imaging system of the smartphone.

But latest rumours indicate that Samsung won’t keep the camera upgrades limited to only the primary camera unit. According to latest reports out of Samsung’s home country, the Samsung Galaxy S8’s front-facing camera will finally be equipped with AutoFocus. This is a significant improvement over the earlier smartphones in the lineup, which only had with a 5MP fixed-focus front camera unit.

According to GSMArena, the new technology will be based on an encoder type of mechanism for the front camera of the Samsung Galaxy S8 instead of the voice coil motor which typically requires more depth to be properly embedded. However, this is the only detail that the report could disclose, so other important factors like the camera resolution still remain unknown. However, previous rumours seem to suggest that the new Samsung Galaxy S8‘s front shooter will be no less than an 8MP unit.

Coming to some of the other rumoured features of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset which may be coupled with a 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Moreover, the upcoming flagship may come in two different display sizes which will be pressure-sensitive.

But as it happens with every rumour, the only way to ensure their veracity is to wait for an announcement from the makers themselves.
