LeEco and Coolpad Come Together To Release Cool 1S, New Snapdragon 821-Powered Smartphone

The Chinese major LeEco, together with its partner Coolpad, is working on a new smartphone, dubbed the Cool 1S. The Cool 1S will succeed the Cool1 Dual and the Cool 1C; the latter being announced not too long ago. The Cool 1S is said to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset installed, ensuring better performance, superior connectivity, graphics, power and battery efficiency and is touted to be the processor of the future. This news comes in the wake of news that the then-unnamed new Cool smartphone has been certified by the TEENA, the telecommunications equipment certification centre in China, with a score of 159039 points.

BGR reports that the Cool 1S will also come equipped with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with LeEco’s EUI 5.8 custom skin layered over the surface. Leaked screenshots have shown above reveal the new and more advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, which is an advancement over the 820 in being more efficient with boosted battery performance. Flagship phones like the Google Pixel XL, OnePlus 3T, and the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe also feature the Snapdragon 821 chipset; it must be mentioned here. Based on the leaked TENAA entry, the Cool 1S is said to feature a 5.5-inch HD display, with RAM options of  4GB or 6GB. Three more storage variants are in the works:  32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. A  4,000mAh battery is to be expected. The smartphone will come equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with an 8-megapixel front camera. Similar to the Cool1 Dual, a fingerprint sensor is also featured. It must be mentioned here that although we are touting the new Cool 1S as a successor to the Cool 1 Dual, no official word on a rear dual-camera setup is there. The Cool 1 Dual features a pair of 13-megapixel rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) support. An 8 MP selfie unit is also provided. The Cool 1S will come in gold, white, silver, and blue beside the black version seen above.

There are some differences between the Cool1 Dual and the upcoming Cool 1S, however.  The Cool1 Dual comes with USB Type-C support, not featured in the new phone’s listings.  Also, the Cool 1 Dual has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option, besides a bigger 4060 mAh battery which boasts of fast charging and reverse charging options as well. The price of the phone remains unknown as of now. We are guessing that will be revealed once the Cool 1S is released for the general public. Stick to our website for more tech news.
