PlayStation 4 Slim to Launch in New Glacier White Colour Scheme on January 24

Sony’s slimmest take on the popular gaming console, the rather unimaginatively named PlayStation 4 Slim, is to be available in a new glacier white colour option. The PS4 Slim launches on January 24. Sony will launch the new console in Japan one day early on the 23rd. A Glacier White DualShock 4 wireless controller will also be made available when the launch takes place. The new Glacier White PlayStation 4 Slim will have a 500 GB hard drive on board.

The new console option will most probably be a permanent option instead of a temporary one. The other options will remain the same.  The new PlayStation 4 variant with the 500GB hard drive and the matching Dualshock 4 controller will retail in Europe for €299 or £259. Like we mentioned before, the console will launch in Japan a day earlier, where a 1TB variant will also be made available. Sources say that the 500 GB variant will retail for JPY 29,980 and the 1TB will retail for JPY 34,980. The European markets will not get the 1TB option as of now and it is unclear if the bigger variant will launch there. None of these models boasts of a US retail date as yet. Manufacturer Sony has confirmed the news.

The glacier white Dualshock wireless controllers will be available on January 18. The wireless controllers have certain distinct features. Precision control, for better feel, shape and sensitivity when using the analogue sticks and the trigger buttons for better control while playing. Easy sharing to enable players to share their best and most memorable gaming experiences at the push of a button. New ways to play with better features like a touchpad, an integrated light bar and a built-in speaker. The controller will also have a 3.5mm audio jack to provide practical audio solutions for players. Lastly, the DualShock wireless controllers charge efficiently, as they can be plugged into a user’s PlayStation 4 system, even when it is on standby or via any standard charger with a micro-USB port.

It will be interesting to see whether fans wait for the PS4 Pro with a white variant if and when it launches. Either way, we must mention here that new Glacier White PlayStation 4 does compete well when stacked against the Microsoft Xbox One S in its Robot White version. We must ask you here to stay tuned for more updates on the PS4 as and when they are made available.
