Three of Xiaomi’s biggest devices have been spotted running an unofficial version of the Android 7.1.1 ROM. The Xiaomi Mi Note, the Mi 4 and the Mi Note Pro have all been spotted running the latest version of the Android operating system. An unknown user, who posted the images of the devices running the new OS, stated that the ROM is stable and is free from any noticeable defects or security issues.
At least one upcoming device from Redmi, the Redmi Note 3, has also been seen sporting the same OS. This will signal that the official OS version is well on its way to the Xiaomi as well as the Redmi devices as well. The MIUI 9, the latest iteration of the Redmi proprietary OS, will also ship soon, it is safe to assume. While the new MIUI 9 is known to be built on the Android Nougat 7.0 framework, not much else is known at this moment.
Interestingly, the latest Android 7.1.2 OS has already made its way to the Google Pixel. As part of the Android Beta Program available for selected devices, the Google Pixel and the Google Nexus 5X have received the update. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge owners, however, are still grappling with the latest update, as users have stated.
The Android 7.1.1 unknown OS, seen on the devices, may be an indication that other devices will soon receive an official update as well, possibly even the Android 7.1.2 if things go according to plan. Meanwhile, you can check out the details of the leaks here. Note that the user who posted the information also stated that the update was stable and practically bug-free. However, we advise you not to take anything for granted. The update is still not official and will surely miss out on some of Nougat’s common features. If you are going to try it, you have to do it at your own risk.
