New Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Trailer Shows The Birth Of Grodd’s Society

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros’ upcoming sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Men is coming up in May this year. Since the game’s announcement, the developers have not held back from giving us several looks at the story, characters, and gameplay aspects, and the latest story trailer to surface shows off the might of the villains as they prepare to storm the world during a time of weakness.

The new video is fourth in line in the Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances series. It focuses on the telepathic Gorilla Grodd’s attempts at forming a threatening new villainous association with dangerous allies like Cheetah, Catwoman, Deadshot, Captain Cold, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and others to take down the Justice League. What we witness in the trailer is the birth of The Society, headed by Grodd, which intends to fill in the blank left in the wake of Superman’s failed regime. If you’re looking to find clues about a new character introduction, well, there is none.

The creators have formally introduced twenty seven new characters in Injustice 2 until now, but there are eleven more to go. The game has done a tremendous job of bringing some of DC’s most promising, but widely overlooked characters back to the limelight. The newest one to have been included in the ever expanding roster is Captain Cold, and he is seen fighting the likes of Green Arrow and Bane, all the while letting his cold gun go crazy even in the bigger guys.

The accompanying description to the Injustice 2 Captain Cold introduction video reads: “Sworn to ending all crime, the Regime hunted down and brutally executed every member of the Rogues, including Captain Cold’s sister. Using his skills as a thief and his iconic Cold Gun, Cold now seeks his vengeance. He’ll gladly use the Society to achieve it.” That should make things very interesting.

Injustice 2 is set for release on May 16, 2017, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game’s story will portray Batman and his allies trying to hold up a semblance of peace in the world during the difficult times after Superman’s regime. But villains see this as a golden opportunity to swoop in and take control.
