TRAI had asked Reliance to end its newest offer that was basically aimed at bringing in more subscribers for Reliance Jio Prime. This essentially means that the 72 million Prime users who had been enjoying the service free of cost will soon have to pay to access those features. Now that the offering is being canceled, you’ll be at a loss if you haven’t already availed the offer.
For those who have already availed the offer, they will continue to enjoy the benefits of the offer. But those who haven’t won’t be able to do so. Rolling is rolling back the offer within a couple of days.
Reliance has been accused of shelling out promotional offers that basically goes against the laws involving the same, which is the primary reason sector regulator TRAI decide to make the announcement.
But the Prime subscription is still available until April 15. “All customers who have subscribed to Jio ‘Summer Surprise’ offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer,” an official statement of Reliance Jio reads. So is you have already become a member of the Summer Special offers you need not worry and keep enjoying the benefits of the service. But if you haven’t become a Prime member instead. Of course, Reliance said it’ll take a few days before withdrawing the offer, so you might want to try and see if you can avail the offer. Anyone paying Rs 99 by the end of March would essentially become a one-year member would get to enjoy free data and voice services during that time. But the G data would be capped at 1GB per day.
