Samsung generally stays on the headlines of the news and updates from the field of technology more frequently than many other tech companies located in the different parts of the world. This time it is due to the new set of processor that the South Korean tech giant has grabbed the headlines.
It has been reported that a new range of processors in the 9xxx series along with the Exynos 7872 is in a state of development and might be spotted in the smartphones which are going to come out in the near future. The new one in the Exynos 9xxx series is touted to be the counterpart of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor which is developed in the 14 nm FinFet process.
Samsung Exynos 9610 Processor
Samsung Exynos 9610 will be developed on the 14 nm LPP process which formed the mechanism of the Exynos 8890 featuring in the Samsung Galaxy S7. It is going to be an octa-core processor and will be comprised of the Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 from ARM (four each). However, it has remained in the darkness why Samsung has not opted for the Mongoose cores. Coming to the GPU of the device, the device will be equipped with the Mali-G72 and it has been promised that there is going to be an enhancement of at least by 25 percent.
This new chipset, according to the post, will be supportive of virtual reality and will have Cat .13 LTE modem clocked at 600/150 Mbps which resembles the one in the Samsung Galaxy S7. Hence, the promise is there for a high-performing chipset and in fact, it could be one of the best ones in the market for the mid-range smartphones.
Samsung Exynos 7872 Chipset
Other than the Exynos 9610, there are reports of another chipset from Samsung as well. The Exynos 7872 will come out with six cores, four of which is going to be comprised of the Cortex-A53 cores and the rest will be of Cortex-A72 cores. The chipset is developed on the 14 nm LLP process unlike the Exynos 9610 which is developed on the 14 nm FinFET process. This chipset comes with the Mali-G71 GPU and Cat. 7 (300/100 Mbps) LTE modem.
It has been reported that the Samsung Exynos 7872 chipset is developed for the mobile phones which are going to be available on the Chinese markets particular whereas the other one is intended for the rest of the world. It will be really interesting to find out how the chipsets perform once smartphones equipped with these chipsets come out on the market.
