Nokia 2 Aces Bluetooth SIG Certfication Process

The Nokia 2 is easily one of the most anticipated low-end smartphones in the world. It has been covered by us in great detail. Now, with the news that the device has easily passed the Bluetooth SIG certification test, we may soon be looking at a release date. We had previously anticipated that the device would be launched at the MWC 2018.

The Nokia 2 will probably be the lowest priced device from Nokia, whose rights are currently owned by, and the devices manufactured by, HMD Global, which is also a Finnish company. HMD Global has manufactured all of the Nokia devices in recent times.

The new Nokia 2 news

About a month ago, four new variants of the Nokia 2 had received FCC certification. An FCC certification is essential in releasing any device manufactured by any company. Now, the Bluetooth SIG certification process has not revealed any new information on the Nokia 2 smartphones. It has, however, indicated some other features which might be onboard the new handsets. For example, the model numbers. We can fully expect more than one variant of the handsets, as there are multiple model numbers: TA-1007, TA-1011, as well as TA-1023 and TA-1029.

We believe that the new Nokia 2 will arrive with a 4.5 to-5- inch screen, and it will be powered by a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 212, besides a 4000mAh battery, alongside standard features like 4G compatibility. These devices will all run on Android 7.1.1. There are some reports which also suggests that the Nokia 2 may well appear with a much lighter version of the latest Android Oreo OS, which might be labeled the Android Go software. The Android Go software is often used for those devices which have 1 GB of RAM or even less.

No one currently knows what the price tag of the Nokia 2 will be. Some time ago, the U.S. based retailer, B&H, had reportedly listed (as we have reported previously) the Nokia 2 as having a price of $99 (which is somewhere around Rs. 6,434). This price tag is sans taxes. All these points towards the Nokia 2 as possibly being the most inexpensive Nokia smartphone to date.
