Apple’s 2018 iPhone May Have a Cheaper Model with LCD Display and 3GB RAM

In 2017, the world was taken in by the craze that was the Apple iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus. And then there was the iPhone X, which has sold over 29 million units in the last few months. Now, we are hearing that the 2018 Apple iPhone lineup may have a cheaper variant with an LCD display and 3GB of RAM, and may be priced at around $700 and $800.

Apple had created a sensation last year when the prices of the devices were unleashed. The iPhone X was easily one of the most expensive mainstream phones to have ever launched. This year, while the company will indeed produce three possible models in September, one of them is unlikely to be fitted with an LCD display, as we had reported yesterday, and will be comparatively cheaper than the rest of the models.

The news comes via noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. Apple may also incorporate Japan Display’s innovative “Full Active” LCD display in one of the upcoming iPhones. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also earlier said that this specific LCD model may also feature a 6.1-inch display. The display size is expected to be around 6 inches. As far as the rest of the information goes, Japan Display’s Full Active LCD displays are nearly always 6 inches in size and also carry a screen resolution of 2,160×1,080 pixels.

Next year’s probable iPhone lineup

Also, there is some more information on the 2018 iPhone. Apparently, the 6.1-inch iPhone will bear an aspect ratio of 18:9 as well as a pixel density of 395ppi. TThis is a departure from what Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted when he said that the 6-inch iPhone’s display may possibly feature around 320-330ppi. Such a high Pixels Per Inch may end up actually taking the display sharpness very close to the one that is produced by OLED displays. Watch this space for more.
