Nokia 2 Updated to Android 8.1, Receives a Jump; Nokia 6 Receives Stable Update

The Nokia 2

There is some great news for users of Nokia’s budget smartphones. The Nokia 2, which is an entry-level phone, has been jumped to the Android 8.1 update, making the company one of the first major players to do so. We have previously covered the various aspects of the smartphone before. Also, HMD Global, which hols the rights to the Nokia brand, has been quite busy in ensuring that a slew of mobile phones are launched at the upcoming MWC 2018.

Incidentally, the Nokia 8 has already received the update. The Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 have also received stable beta versions of the same OS.

Besides, there has been some recent leaks that seem to suggest that the next phone which will receive the update is possibly the Nokia 3. This means that the company is intent on ensuring that no sector in its smartphone spectrum is boycotted from the list of the phones that it manufactures.

Given the fact that the Nokia 2 is an entry-level smartphone with a memory of only 1GB, this update is very important. We believe that it will make the phone a lot faster and will grant a whole host of features which will, in the end, make it better as well.

Take the example of the Nokia 8, which is a flagship model. When the Nokia 8 was updated to the Android 8.1 Oreo, it fixed a lot of issues and also the much-criticized hamburger emoji with the cheese now placed on top of the patty, as well as system optimizations, and a whole host of performance improvements. Taken together, it meant that the upgrade was a success.

As you can see in the Tweet, Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, has also stated that the Nokia 3 has now entered the Beta Labs and that the latest update will soon be available. This Oreo update may be rolled out before the Mobile World Congress 2018.
