The South Korean tech conglomerate has already unwrapped its 2018 flagships earlier this week. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) in Barcelona. The latest report hints us to the fact that the company has decided to stop its numeric naming scheme for Samsung’s upcoming S-series smartphones.
During the Q&A session at Mobile World Congress with DJ Koh, Samsung Mobile’s head, the company reportedly stated that it will stop the traditional naming strategy for the next Galaxy S-series device. Furthermore, instead of the traditional naming scheme, Koh has stated that the series will get a name change. Also, the “Galaxy” branding is reported to remain as it is.
Despite the unavailability of any further confirmation about the name change, possible reports given indicate that the officials of the company are already talking about the same. And therefore, the company is expected to coming out with a changing of their traditional naming scheme for Galaxy S-series. But whether the company chooses to proceed with the Galaxy S9 successor’s naming scheme, is remained to be seen. Nevertheless, there have been reports that suggest the company to gear up for the launch of Galaxy X, that is expected to be the first foldable smartphone from the company.
The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ announced a couple of days ago are the 2018 flagships from the company. While the Galaxy S9 features 5.8-inches, the Galaxy S9+ comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. Both the phones house the Snapdragon 845 processor in the North American as well as Chinese markets, while for the rest of the world, the smartphones are fueled with Exynos 9810 chipset models.
In the imaging department, the Galaxy S9 comes with a rear cam with the primary sensor. The Galaxy S9+ has a dual camera setup measuring 12-megapixel camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, OIS, as well as dual-pixel autofocus. Up front, both the devices have an 8-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/.17 and also autofocus. Samsung‘s Galaxy S9 is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 3,000mAh battery. The larger S9+ comes with a 6GB of RAM and 3,500mAh battery. But both have the support for Qualcomm‘s Quick Charge 2.0 in order to deliver the fast charging as well as the wireless charging technology.
