It seems that OnePlus is keeping up its legacy and offering some offering speedy software updates for its most recent flagship devices. The Chinese smartphone giant has finally announced a new open beta program for the OnePlus 5 as well as OnePlus 5T. Talking about the new open beta, it is supposed to bring the most recent version of the Android operating system: the Android 8.1 Oreo update. The OnePlus 5 and its bigger sibling is soon to get the flavor.
Since the most recent update is a beta program, users need to subscribe to the Open Beta program (as mentioned here). The rollout has been offered as the sixth beta update to what already is existing as the beta program. Feature wise, it is the latest Android 8.1 Oreo version. According to what the changelog which has been mentioned by OnePlus, there is a slew of new features which have been added to the very new update.
The most important is that the Phone app has received an update including a new auto pickup gesture that will allow users to pick up incoming calls just by the raising their phones. To recall, such a type of gesture was initially introduced by the South Korean tech conglomerate, Samsung, in the Galaxy S5.
Additionally, the company has also included few minor changes besides the major ones. OnePlus has made some optimizations for gaming mode as well. This might allow users to experience an immersive gaming experience which also includes turning off power saving and adaptive brightness, apart from blocking the notification as well. This update also comes with the latest February 2018 security patch of Google.
The new update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T also sports new ‘global roaming solution’. The company has even added the backup app data feature for users who use other smartphones other than their OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T. The beta is currently available for OnePlus 5 as well as OnePlus 5T for the time being and is also downloadable from the official website of the company.
