It seems like Samsung is presently working to revamp its Galaxy J series devices with the launch of a few new models. Recently, a few leaks also appeared revealing some features of an upcoming model of the Galaxy J series. The Galaxy J8 with Exynos 7870 processor and 3GB RAM was spotted on the GeekBench listing a few days ago. Now a new variant of the device was also spotted on the benchmarking website.
According to the Geekbench listing, the new model is dubbed as Galaxy J8 Plus and carries the model number SM-J805G as reported by Slashleaks. The new smartphone is listed to run on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It will be powered by Qualcomm MSM8953, which is also known as Snapdragon 625 SoC with 3GB of RAM.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC is a mid-level chipset and the Galaxy J8 Plus is the not the first smartphone from the company to feature it. Samsung has previously launched the Galaxy On7 and the Galaxy C7 with the same chipset in 2016.
Coming to the Samsung Galaxy J8, the smartphone has managed to score 749 points in the single-core test and 3708 points in the multi-core test according to the Geekbench database. It is to be noted that even though the Galaxy J8 and the Galaxy J8 Plus has been listed on the Geekbench website, none of them has been confirmed by Samsung as yet.
The only thing we know so far is that Samsung wants to expand its Galaxy J series range with some upcoming models in the coming months. The J series is a very popular budget smartphone series of the company. It wants to compete with the Chinese brand Xiaomi in the budget smartphone category since the Chinese company is known to offer better spec smartphones at low prices. We have to wait for a few days to get any information from Samsung about the new models of the Galaxy J series. Stay tuned to our site for further updates.
