Japanese tech giant Sony has officially unveiled the Xperia XZ2 Premium smartphone today. It is an upgrade to the original Sony Xperia XZ2 that was launched at MWC 2018 held in February this year. The smartphone comes with some new and upgraded features than its predecessor.
Some of the added features include a Motion Eye dual camera setup with an ISO rating of 12800 for HD quality video recording. It also comes with ISO 51200 rating for photos and also allows slow-motion video recording at 960fps. The smartphone also boasts a 4K HDR Triluminos display with an IPS 65/68 certification for water and dust resistivity. The price of the Xperia XZ2 Premium has not been revealed yet and it is likely to be available from May 2018 onwards. It will come in two color variants of Chrome Black and Chrome Silver and in single and dual-SIM specifications.
Coming to the detailed specifications, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium comes with a 5.8-inch 4K HDR Triluminus display with the X-Reality for the mobile engine. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB of RAM. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo flavor out of the box and the latest Android 8.1 update is expected to be rolled out soon.
Coming to the camera department, the smartphone features a Motion-Eye dual rear camera setup with a 19-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel secondary black and white camera. Both the cameras come with f/1.8 aperture and Exmor RS sensors. On the front, it sports a 13-megapixel 22mm wide lens with f/2.0 aperture and Exmor RS sensor. The smartphone comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be further upgraded with a micro-SD card up to 400GB.
In terms of connectivity, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium features 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and USB Type C port for charging. It also bears the 3.5mm audio jack. It is fueled by a 3540 mAh battery with Quick Charging 3.0 and wireless charging support.
