Samsung is likely to launch a new smartphone soon as it is reportedly working on a device with model number G8850. The South Korean giant launched the Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury last month and now as per reports, a new hands-on video of the device with model number G8850 has appeared online. As a result, some of the specifications of the upcoming smartphone has been revealed.
The leaked hands-on video shared by SlashLeaks shows that the device with model number G8850 will be called Samsung Galaxy A9 Star and it will be taller, thinner and wider than the Samsung Galaxy S9+ flagship device unveiled at the MWC 2018. The video also shows that the Galaxy A9 Star will feature a dual rear camera setup at the top corner with a 16-megapixel and a 24-megapixel sensor. On the front, it may feature a 24-megapixel sensor for taking selfies.
The Samsung device with model number G8850 has also visited TENAA recently which has revealed some of the specifications of the device. As per the site, the device will be powered by a 3,700mAh battery. Apart from that, it is said to feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2220 X 1080 pixels and 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star is expected to run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and may arrive with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage space. The internal storage can be further upgraded with the help of a micro-SD card. Since the Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury was launched last month as a light variant of the flagship Galaxy S8, the company may follow the same trend and launch the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star as a light luxury variant of the Samsung Galaxy S9+.
To recall, Samsung has launched cheaper variants of its flagship devices earlier as well. This may be due to the stiff competition it is facing from Chinese smartphone manufacturers that provide great specifications on their devices at low prices. These cheaper variants from Samsung may actually allow the company to stay in this fiercely competitive market and do not incur losses.
