Google Pixel XL Users Facing Fast Charging Issues after Android 9 Pie Update

Google Pixel XL users have started facing fast charging issues on their handsets after the Android 9 Pie update. Several users have reported that the fast charging feature is not working anymore after the latest update has been installed. One user also reported that a message that reads “Charging Slowly” shows up even after connecting the device to a fast charger. Some other users have reported that the original fast charger provided with the Google Pixel XL is working fine while other chargers are having issues after the update.

Several Google Pixel XL users have taken to the Google Tracking issue site to report that the fast charging feature is not working on their device after the update. They said that the feature was working well when the device was running on Android 8.1 Oreo. While some users can stall fast charge their device by using the original fast charger provided with the Google Pixel XL, others can’t use the feature using any other fast charger.  This clearly indicates that it is a software issue that has shown up after the Android 9 Pie update.

As per reports, Google has notified the issue and is likely to be working to roll out a fix soon. A user also reported that this same issue had crept up during the DP4 release as well, but the issue was not resolved by Google. The company had closed the issue as “won’t Fix (infeasible). This probably means that there was no fix possible for the issue or the AOSP was not the right place to provide a fix. This is probably why the issue has managed to roll down to the stable Android 9 Pie update as well.

It should be noted that only the Google Pixel XL device is having the fast charging issue, while all other devices of the Google Pixel family are working fine after the update. We are expecting Google to roll out a fix to this issue in the coming days.
