Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet with Alexa Integration and Fire OS 6 Launched

Amazon has launched an upgraded Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet that runs on Fire OS 6 based on Android 7 Nougat and hands-free Amazon Alexa integration. Quite similar to its predecessor in terms of design which was launched last year, the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet comes with an 8-inch display and is powered by a quad-core processor. The tablet features dual speakers with Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos technologies. Amazon has also provided an HD camera sensor on the front panel to enable seamless video chatting through the device.

Coming to the price, the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet comes with a price tag of $79.99 in the US for the 16GB version while the 32GB internal storage version costs $109.99. Both the variants are available in four color options of Canary Yellow, Marine Blue, Punch Red, and Black. The tablet can be ordered online through Amazon.com although shipping of the devices will begin from October 4. Alongside the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet, the company has also introduced a Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet that comes with a price tag of $129.99. Customers can also order Fire HD 8 tablet cases from Amazon.com starting from $29.99 in matching colors.

Coming to the specifications, the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet runs on Fire OS6 based on Android 7 Nougat which is the successor to Fire OS5. Amazon has also provided a number of Android 7 Nougat functionalities like a Doze mode to save battery power when the device stays idle and the option to increase the internal storage space via a micro-SD card. The device also comes with a number of proprietary features like ASAP, For You, Amazon FreeTime, Second Screen, X-ray and more.

Similar to the last year’s model, the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet comes with an 8-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels and is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz processor with 1.5GB RAM.  In terms of internal storage, two variants of 16GB and 32GB are available and the storage space can be further increased via a micro-SD card.
