HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia smartphones has already launched a slew of devices this year. Now, the company has announced that it will hold a hardware event on December 5 at Dubai which is likely to see the launch of three more smartphones. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global has informed about an #ExpectMore event where three new smartphones will be launched. As of now, there is no clear information about the names of these devices but speculations are doing the rounds that the company may launch the Nokia 2.1, Nokia 8.1 and the Nokia 9 at the event.
Sarvikas confirmed the launch event via his official Twitter handle. He also posted a teaser image along with a quote that says “ExpectMore”. However, the company is yet to shed any light about which devices will be launched at the December 5 event. As per the teaser image shared on Twitter, two devices can be seen sporting a display notch. As per earlier reports, the Nokia 8.1 is expected to arrive with a display notch so it may see the light of the day at the event.
In addition, the Nokia 2.1 may also get unveiled at the event to be held on December 5 as it also features a display notch. Meanwhile, the handset seen without the display notch could the highly anticipated Nokia 9 which is long due for release. As per some earlier reports, the Nokia 9 may feature a Penta camera setup on the rear panel and will not sport a display notch.
The Nokia 9 is expected to run on Android 9 Pie out of the box and may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage space. It is likely to be powered by a 4,150mAh battery under the hood. Earlier it was reported that the Nokia 9 may see the light of the day at MWC 2019 however that may not happen as the company has already scheduled a launch event on December 5.
