ZTE has debuted the Axon M, its first dual-screen foldable smartphone. This new device was unveiled at an event in the United States. Starting next month, this new device will be available in the US only and exclusively with AT&T. This new device is also expected in China, Japan, and in Europe. It remains to be seen if this device will make its way to the other global markets as well.
The new Axon M boasts a metal frame and is both thicker as well as heavier when compared to many other more ‘regular’ smartphones. The dual screens are attached to each other thanks to a hinge which holds one display attached to the body. The other screen can be folded to the rear and can be extended outwards as well.
ZTE Axon M Specs and Features
The new ZTE Axon M will come with two 5.2-inch displays and both of the displays, thankfully, are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Each of the screens boasts an FHD resolution which has a pixel density of 428ppi. When the displays are laid out completely, the combined aspect ratio is 1.78:1. There is present, under the hood, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor which will work in tandem with 4GB of RAM. The Axon M also has to offer 64GB of internal or native storage space. This last part is expandable to up to 256GB using a microSD card.
Thanks to its unique design, the ZTE Axon M comes armed with only one camera; depending on the angle of use, it can act as either a front snapper or a rear one. The camera has a f/8 20MP sensor armed with image stabilization for pictures and the videos as well as PDAF. Also, there is a LED flash located right beside the camera. The new device will run on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. Under the hood is a 3,180mAh battery also with QC 3.0 rapid charging support. There are dual speakers onboard, besides a dedicated Hi-Fi audio chip, a very handy 3.5mm headphone jack besides a USB Type-C port.
