We have already reported that Vivo at the CES 2018 tech show, showcased the X20 Plus smartphone which happens to be world’s first smartphone to feature under-glass fingerprint reading technology. This device notably carries the credits for being the initial device to sport the under-display fingerprint sensor in the world. If now we go by the recent reports, the company has officially confirmed that the Vivo X20 Plus UD smartphone will be coming and the date has been scheduled for January 24.
The company furthermore has confirmed to launch the in-screen fingerprint-based Vivo X20 Plus by teasing the device. The smartphone is expected to debut on January 24 at 7:30 PM in the Chinese markets at Beijing. According to what we have gathered from the poster, while it does not reveal any specification or pricing details, the caption which, “Unlock the Future”, tips that the X20 Plus UD is the variant that Vivo is expected to launch on that particular day.
The smartphone recently received the 3C certification in China. Not just that, Vivo X20 Plus UD also got bagged the TENAA certification a few days ago, as reported here. Rumors previously have also pointed out that the same device might get launched as the Vivo X20 Plus UD. From the aforementioned report, the device was shown in new images. Evident look at the device indicates it to feature a fingerprint reader not either on rear or front panel, but it would have a fingerprint reader just under the screen.
The Vivo X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant is reported to feature Clear ID 9500 optical under-display fingerprint sensor which will be developed by Synaptics. Between the glass panel and OLED screen, there would be the sensor. This new technology will be capable of unlocking the phone within 0.7 seconds, and also this fingerprint reader will give users the allowance to use it for authenticating payments.
To go into the depths of the specifications in Vivo X20 Plus UD, it will bestow a 6.43-inch OLED FHD+ display with a screen resolution and aspect ratio of 2160 x 1080 pixels 18:9 respectively. Under its hood, the device will house an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC which is supposed to be paired with 4 GB of RAM as well as 128GB of default memory space. On the software front, the Vivo X20 Plus UD is expected to run the Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS, out-of-the-box. As per pricing, Vivo‘s X20 Plus UD is expected to be priced at 3999 yuan (approx. Rs. 40,000).
