The Samsung Galaxy J8 mid-range smartphone is finally available in India from today. The South Korean tech giant had announced earlier that the smartphone would go on sale in the country from June 28, that is today and Samsung confirmed the same yesterday. The smartphone was launched in India last month alongside the Samsung Galaxy J6 and is a part of a series of handsets that features Infinity Displays.
Coming to the pricing details, the Samsung Galaxy J8 has been priced at Rs 18,990 and will be available for purchase from today, June 28. The smartphone will be available across third-party smartphone retailers and Samsung brand stores along with e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Paytm Mall, and Amazon. Currently, the smartphone is available in three color variants of Blue, Black, and Gold and comes in only one variant of 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage space.
Talking about the specifications of the handset, the Samsung Galaxy J8 features a 6-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM.
On the optics front, the device features a dual camera module on the back with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it features another 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling and both the front and rear cameras are supported by an LED flash. It is equipped with facial recognition support and comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be further upgraded to a maximum of 256GB via micro-SD card.
In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy J8 comes with 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS, micro USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. The device is also equipped with a “Chat over Video” feature that allows the users to chat on WhatsApp and other instant messaging apps while watching a video. The device is also equipped with Samsung Mall and Samsung Pay features for one-touch online shopping and payment support. The smartphone will run on Android 8.0 Oreo flavor out of the box.
