A few weeks back, we had reported about the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime coming to Indian shores soon. However, as per several reports, that day seems to be today.
Last week, Samsung was busy sending out media invites for an event that is to take place today at 11:30 IST at Gurgaon. The company did not reveal many specifics regarding the event or about the device it intends to launch except what is said in the invite: “Get ready for the Prime Time. Join us as we unveil the next in J-series, now more proficient, protected and power-packed than ever.” Going by what is said here, it seems that the upcoming smartphone that will be revealed at the event will be none other than the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.
According to reports that had surfaced earlier, the Galaxy J7 Prime is expected to be launched in the country at an initial price of Rs. 18,790. The smartphone was launched in Vietnam last month at a price equivalent to Rs. 19,000.
Coming to some of the key specifications of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, the smartphone will come with a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) IPS display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, and will be powered by a 1.6GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor, coupled with Mali-T830MP2 GPU and 3GB RAM. On the internal storage front, the smartphone will have 32 GB memory on board along with the option for expansion via MicroSD card up to 256 GB. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
Coming to the cameras, the “selfie-centric” Galaxy J7 Prime will feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera of aperture f/1.9 paired with LED flash along with a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus feature. One of the main distinguishing features of the new J-series smartphone from the earlier Galaxy J7 is the fingerprint scanner embedded in the device’s home button. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy J7 Prime offers NFC support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.1, Micro-USB (with OTG) and also features a 3.5mm audio jack. It is powered by a Li-Ion 3300mAh battery and measures 151.5 x 74.9 x 8.1 mm in dimensions.
