After the range of smartphones now it’s the turn of the wearables (supporting Android Wear v1.4) to get launched one after the other. Just after the announcement of the launch of the fitness tracker wearables like Fitbit Alta and Garmin Fenix 3, its time for another wearable to launch. However, this time it’s not a fitness tracker but a smartwatch.
Google has announced the details of major software updates which would be configured to the Android Wear v1.4. Before going into the details of the updates which would be provided to the all new Android Wear v1.4 let us just take a peep into the areas where up gradations would be provided.
The most exciting feature about Android Wear v1.4 is that finally Marshmallow has been configured into a wearable. The other areas which have been touched are music playing system, texting, calling, etc. It also supports gesture controls.
Android Wear v1.4 Features
People can now connect the smartphones to the smartwatches for calling purposes via Bluetooth. However, the important thing about this is that the smartwatch should include a speaker. Most of the wearables are lacking speaker facility. The only smartwatches with this facility are Asus Zenwatch 2 and Huawei Watch. One can also access the apps like Glide to receive and listen to the audio and video messages. “You’ll be able to stay connected to what’s important, while keeping your phone (or other hand) in your pocket,” adds Higgins.
The change list also includes the battery life. Moreover the user can connect to friends by accessing apps like WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber, etc without even taking the phone out of the pocket. Previously users could only flick their wrists to scroll up and down in the smartwatch’s card stream. However, the latest update now brings the ability to expand a card, bring up apps, and return to the watch face with a push, lift or shake gestures. Another added and exciting feature is that it has a support for six new languages -namely, Mandarin, Cantonese, Indonesian, Polish, Dutch, and Thai.
However for being able to access these features, one should get an updated smartwatch. Google will announce within few weeks once all the existing smartwatches gets up graded. But overall according to Google, it is expected that by March all the smatwatches will be up graded and the new ones with new features will be available in the market.
