Mi 4 is 5-inch 16:9 aspect ratio with multi-touch display. It also comes with LED backlit IPS TFT LCD. As for the resolution, Mi 4 has 1080 x 1920 pixels at 441 ppi. While Xiaomi Mi 5, has a 5.2-inch full-HD display and feature pressure-sensitive touchscreen which is quiet similar to the 3D Touch technology found in iPhone.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor that is coupled with 3GB RAM. On the other hand, the Xisomi Mi 5 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.1GHz. The device has two storage and memory options –  3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage.

As for Mi 4 comes with Android OS, v4.4.3 (KitKat) which can be upgraded to v6.0.1 (Marshmallow) while Mi 5 runs on MIUI 7 based on Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow). The Xiaomi Mi 4 is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts a Micro-SIM while Mi 5 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIM.

Both Xiaomi Mi 4 and Xiaomi Mi 5 are pretty excellent devices but its kind of obvious that the last Xiaomi Mi 5 has an upper hand in this case. Being an upgraded version, Mi 5 quiet naturally has better camera, processors, operating system among great features. Officially the Xiaomi Mi 5 is being currently sold in Asian market but there’s no knowledge when the handset will be available to the rest of the world or the United States of America.
