Xiaomi Mi 5S: For the past couple of weeks we have been reporting leaks and speculations regarding Xiaomi’s much-awaited flagship, Xiaomi Mi 5S. As the device launches tomorrow (September 27), we have new leaked renders that emerged online. The leaks have been made by the popular tipster kjuma.
Gizmochina reports that a couple of renders of the Mi 5S has virtual fingerprint scanner button. The pictures seem to have been taken inside a manufacturing plant. The person who holds the render is wearing a white glove, so we are assuming that it’s one of the workers inside the plant. The front of the render very clearly reveals under glass ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The next render, as you can see for yourself, is a black coloured version of the same design. Gizmochina says, a screenshot of the device’s on-screen settings seems to clearly confirm this is indeed the Mi 5S.
In past, Xiaomi fans have wondered where the scanner would be located on the screen if the button goes virtual. As you can see in the pictures, the circular home button is the virtual button where the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is located. At this point, the device looks somewhat like the all new iPhone 7. But the virtual button on this one even tops Apple’s technology because news is that the virtual button will work even with greasy, dirty and wet hands.
kjuma has also revealed ceramic black variant of the Mi 5S Plus that seemed to have appeared online on a certain website. As you can see in the picture, the dual camera appears in the left-hand corner instead of the middle. So now we know that Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus might have 256GB of internal storage.
Another leaked advertisement of the device appeared on Jingdong (JD.com) which also revealed that the sales would commence from September 29 onwards. However, the sale of Mi 5S Plus will likely hit the stores on October 7.
According to previous leaks, Xiaomi Mi 5S will come with the following features: 5.15-inch screen with Force Touch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with a quad-core 2.4GHz CPU. And the Adreno 530 GPU that comes along with 256GB of UFS 2.0 storage and 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM that runs at a zippier clock speed of 1866MHz. Previously there were rumours of a 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and a premium version with 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As far as the camera is concerned, the handset will come equipped with 16-megapixels that come equipped with an aperture of f/1.8. PDAF focus and 4 axes optical image stabilisation. It can also shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. It’ll be backed by a 3490mAh battery and will come packed with a Qualcomm’s fast charge 3.0. The microUSB port has been replaced by USB Type-C port. Xiaomi Mi 5s weighs 147 grammes, measures 7.25mm thick and supports NFC which means the device can work with Xiaomi Pay.
