Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer have been one of the most talked about smartphone manufacturing companies in recent times with their affordable yet incredibly updated range of phones which cater to an audience of all almost all pocket sizes. With their latest line of smartphones, the most talked about device, by a long margin is the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5s which is slated to be one Xiaomi’s most premium devices. There have been tonnes of rumours regarding the release, specifications and price of the Mi 5s and it seems that finally, Xiaomi has decided to shed some light on to the topic.
Xiaomi has just scheduled a press event and it is much expected that the event is specifically for the unveiling of the new Xiaomi Mi 5s. Xiaomi has published an image on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and the image contains a huge letter ‘S’ (as in Xiaomi Mi 5s, probably) and a release date for the upcoming product. This event will be held at the National Convention Center in Beijing on September 27th, and it will start at 10AM (local time).
Xiaomi Mi 5s Rumoured Specifications:
There has been a host of rumours regarding the upcoming device from the Chinese company. Judging by the press leaks, this handset will resemble the Xiaomi Mi 5, but it might not ship with a physical home key below the display and Qualcomm’s Sense ID technology (the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner) will be located below the phone’s glass surface. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi 5s, and Xiaomi’s Android-based MIUI 8 OS will be installed on top of Google’s operating system.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s is expected to feature a 5.15-inch full HD (1080p) display with Force Touch feature akin to Apple’s 3D Touch. Under the hood, the device is expected to consist of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.4GHz with Adreno 530 graphics. Rumours state that the device might come in two different variants. The first model will bear 3GB LPDDR4 RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage while the other one might have 128GB storage on top of 4GB RAM. On the photography front, The Mi 5s is expected to sport a 16MP rear camera with 4-axis OIS, PDAF focusing, and a f/1.8 aperture. the front shooter is rumoured to have an 8MP sensor with LED Flash support.
The Mi 5s is also rumoured to be housing a mammoth 3,490mAh battery according to leaks which will support Qualcomm’s quick charge 3.0 feature.
As of now, that is the maximum amount of information that could be gathered based on leaks and rumours, but the image of the new smartphone will be much clearer post-September 27 and we are hopeful that the device will go on sale soon following its launch.
