Rockstar has just announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 is undergoing a significant amount of delay. So those of you who had been looking forward to the fall of this year have an even longer wait to endure. According to Rockstar, the new game is now slated to be released sometime in spring 2018.
The news cannot be a happy one for fans who have been longing to get their hands on new information about the upcoming sequel. Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced in the last quarter of 2016, but since then, the developers have only revealed bits and pieces about what to expect. So more than six months after the original announcement, nearly everything that you will find about the game anywhere is based entirely on leaks that had begun surfacing even before it had been announced.
As is to be expected, the delay is necessary for the developers to optimize the game and deliver the best possible experience for fans. “We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer,” they added. So perhaps there will be more news to look forward to during E3 2017?
But there’s more- to accompany the news of the delay, Rockstar has released some beautiful new screenshots that show off the game’s world along with some of its characters and weapons. And going by these, it looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 is shaping up to be a gorgeous adventure.
But the bad news is that we still don’t have the answer to who all those characters on the announcement teaser were, or who the protagonist in the game will be. More importantly, it still remains a mystery if the new game will actually serve as a pre-sequel to the earlier game and therefore utilize the opportunity to reintroduce Marston during his younger days. Let’s hope the developers address these questions soon.
