Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has released its latest flagship Xiaomi Redmi 4 today. The third smartphone from Xiaomi this year after Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Xiaomi Redmi 4A, the new device comes with a humongous 4,100 mAh lithium-polymer battery with fast charging.
The successor to Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, the latest device comes in three storage variants with three different prices. The 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory variant is priced at Rs. 6,999, while the 3GB and 32GB internal memory variant is priced at Rs. 8,999. The costliest of them all is the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory variant, which is priced at Rs. 10,999.
Xiaomi Redmi 4 sports an all-metal body and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, similar to its predecessor. It also comes with lesser bezels than its predecessors. Powered by the 1.4Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor with Adreno 505, the device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with its own MIUI 8 skin on top. It also has 4G-enabled dual nano-SIM slots.
Having a 5-inch 720p display, the device sports a 13megapixel primary camera with PDAF and a 5megapixel secondary camera, as per India Today.
Speaking of its connectivity options, it will come with Bluetooth v4.1, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, FM Radio, WiFi Direct, Hotspot, microsUSB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone jack and Infrared port.
Xiaomi hosted a live stream for the launch today which took place in New Delhi. The live stream is available on the Mi.com website and Youtube.
The company now is the second biggest smartphone in India and has recently opened its Mi Home store in Bengaluru, the first in India. The Mi Home Store is a unique offline retail store where the company showcases its products including the Mi and Redmi series of smartphones.
The device is available in two color variants – Matte Black and Gold.
