Sony is planning to run riot in the upcoming IFA 2017 tech event which is going to be held in Berlin in a couple of week’s time. The Japanese tech conglomerate is all set to unveil three new Xperia devices in the forthcoming event. And as the launch date coming closer, more rumors and renders are being leaked on the internet. Earlier we reported that one of the three devices, Xperia XZ1 is going to sport a huge camera module at the rear end. Now the new leak suggests that the other handset, Xperia XZ1 Compact, which is also set to make its debut at the IFA 2017 will flaunt a thick bezel, going against the current trend.
The famous leaksters OnLeaks and 91mobiles leaked hands on 3D images and CAD-based renders of the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact on the internet, and the images hint that the handset is going to sport a very thick top and side bezels. This is quite unusual for the modern day smartphones, as most of the contemporary handsets come with an incredibly thin design and nearly bezel-less body.
According to the rendered images, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is going to measure 9.4 mm or 0.37 inches, when the thickness of the handset is concerned. By today’s standards, we can expect this much of thickness in a tablet, phablet(tablet phone), feature phone or in a rugged handset. It is noteworthy that Xperia X Compact which was unveiled last year also measures 9.5 mm thickness. But that device did not do very well in the market in terms of business.
As the name suggests, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is going to be a trimmed version of the Xperia XZ1. The handset is expected to sport a 4.6-inch Full HD display with the screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. On the optics front, the device is pegged to flaunt 8-megapixel shooters at the both end of the device. Under the hood, the smartphone is believed to pack with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. As per the leaked images, unlike the Xperia XZ1, the ‘Compact’ model is more likely to boast of a boxy shape with almost flat sides and barely curved edges. The renders also hinted that a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button, data transfer port, and USB Type-C charging port is also placed on the body of the device.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is expected to get unveiled on 31st August during Sony’s IFA press conference and likely to be priced at USD 737 (almost Rs. 48,000).
