Blackberry has finally officially announced its all-new Blackberry Motion. We had last week covered the new device. This is the company’s first full touchscreen phone ever and naturally comes with a lot of novelty value. The new phone was first announced at the GITEX Technology Week currently ongoing in Dubai, UAE. The BlackBerry Motion comes across as a mid-range device which has an all-touch display, a handy water-resistant chassis, and a very big battery.
Blackberry Motion Specs and Features
The new Blackberry Motion has a set of very decent specs and features. Like we have mentioned before, there is no physical keyboard. So, Blackberry users who wish to own a device with the physical QWERTY keyboard, should give this phone a miss. On the front is a premium scratch-resistant LCD display of 5.5 inches which has a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Under the hood, we find the super powerful and the very efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. This 625 chipset will work in tandem with 4 GB of RAM. The native or internal storage currently available on the Motion is 32 GB.
The presence of a 4,000mAh battery makes it the biggest Blackberry-battery phone to date. This 4,000 mAh battery will support Quick Charge 3.0 and it can be charged to up to 50 percent in just 40 minutes. Also onboard is the home button present which is embedded in the screen with a fingerprint scanner.
Initially, this device will run on the Android 7.1 Nougat OS; the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update is coming in 2018. A new feature called Locker will securely store the user’s documents and photos on the innate storage. Those who wish to access it will require a PIN code or a fingerprint scanner in order to access them. The Locker Mode will also allow users to save all of their captured photos only on the native storage without Cloud linking.
There is a new feature called the Convenience Key which has four customizable profiles: Home, Car, Office, and User. Users can activate them easily via a home Wi-Fi network, besides in-car Bluetooth, or a BlackBerry Hub synced meetings. It will also fetch you all of your frequently used apps.
This new BlackBerry Motion has a f/2.0 aperture 12-megapixel rear or primary snapper. while the front has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. This marks Blackberry’s first IP67 certified body and it has an aluminum frame with a soft texture for better grip. Connectivity features include a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C, and dual-SIM support, as well as 4G and Wi-Fi.
Pre-orders in the UAE start with a pricing of Dh 1,699 (or roughly $462). In Saudi Arabia, it comes for 1,699 Riyal (or ~$453).
