Honor 9 to Launch in India on 5 October

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor may launch its new phone, the Honor 9, on October 5 (Thursday) in India. To recall, the launch date was to be in August this year, as we had informed you, but it is launching late. Just a few days ago, the international version of the Honor 9 had received a new color variant: bird blue. This new phone will now be available only via Flipkart.

The Huawei Honor 9 with 6GB of RAM was made available in Europe was launched a few months ago. With the new launch of the Honor 9 in India, the high-range phones already available in the country will face a new challenger. Also, the Honor 9 will receive a number of new features which are not available in many comparable phones.

The Honor 9 was initially launched in China in three variants: one with 4GB RAM and 64GB of native storage, which was priced at CNY 2,299 or Rs. 22,000. Also, the other version had 6GB RAM and 64GB of native storage and was priced at CNY 2,699 or roughly Rs. 26,000. The most premium version had 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage and came for CNY 2,999, or roughly Rs. 28,500. We will have to wait until October 5 in order to know if all of the three versions make it to India.

While the Honor Pay payment solution had been unveiled in China when the Honor 9 was unveiled, it is unclear if it will make its way to India as well.

Honor 9 Specs and Features

The new Honor 9 has a dual rear camera on the rear with one 20-megapixel sensor for monochrome pictures and one alongside a 12-megapixel sensor for RGB photos. It also has a f/2.2 aperture, besides PDAF and a superb two-tone LED flash. For selfies and front video calling, we have an 8-megapixel front camera. While the video camera on the rear will have 4K recording capabilities, the front camera has full-HD video recording capacity.

The Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch full-HD display with 1080×1920 pixels of resolution and an LTPS display with 428ppi of pixel density. Powered by Huawei’s homegrown Kirin 960 processor, its four cores are clocked at 2.4GHz and the remaining four additional cores are clocked at 1.8GHz.

The Honor 9 hone has a hybrid SIM slot and will be able to support external storage to up to 256GB via a microSD card. There is a 3200mAh non-removable battery and the device has USB Type-C port. The Honor 9 will have various colors like Amber Gold, Black, and Blue.
