Mobiles Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 to Receive Android 8.0 Update Shortly By Damini Sengupta Posted on November 27, 2017 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Several smartphones in this recent tech world have been reported to get Android 8.0 update in the midst of swirling rumors. Having reported about OnePlus 3 and 3T to receive the Android Oreo officially update, we have come across reports that indicated that the new vendor of OnePlus (the OnePlus 5T alongside OnePlus 5) might get the same update but unfortunately sans Project Treble. Now with this recent report, the Finnish company is all set to roll out Android Oreo for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. According to the leak that surfaced on Twitter, it seems that Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, is apparently confirming Nokia 5 and 6 to be the next smartphones that would receive the latest update of Android Oreo, after Nokia 8. Furthermore, he added that the tech conglomerate is planning to roll out Open Beta Labs for the same smartphones in the near future. Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 to Get Android 8.0 Update Soon The Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are envisioned to sport the latest Android security patch alongside other exciting features such as Picture-in-picture, the detailed Notification dots for every app as well as Autofill passwords and the likes. As per the company’s claim, it had earlier promised that Nokia 3, 5 and 6 besides Nokia 2, are also going to get the Android 8.0 Oreo update, reports GizmoChina. Moreover, the devices are slated to get the forthcoming Android P version as well. Coming to Nokia 5‘s specifications, the device features a 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset. Underneath, there’s also a 3GB of RAM packed in with the processor alongside a native storage of 16GB. It can further be expanded up to 128GB by using an expandable storage card. Nokia 6, on contrary, features a 5.5-inch Full HD LCD display and houses the Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor that is clocked at 1.4GHz. The device comes in two variants. While one sports 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage, the other is packed with 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Despite apparently confirming this news via Twitter, we are unsure of whether or not the company will shortly bring the beta built of Android Oreo update for both Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. So one may regard this news with a grain of salt until we bring further updates.
