A lot has been happening about Xiaomi‘s ‘Desh ka Smartphone’ or the smartphone for India, and finally, here’s the good news for all our Indian fans: the Beijing tech giant has finally made the entry-level smartphone for masses, official! Xiaomi Redmi 5A after launching in China, is now official in the markets in India and has been made available in two variants. While the base model of 2GB RAM/16GB storage comes with a price tag of Rs. 4,999, the 3GB RAM/32GB storage version will cost Rs. 6,999 in India.
Manu Jain, the vice president and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, stated, “We strongly believe that the best of technology should be made accessible to as many people as possible because technology can improve lives. With Redmi 5A we take another step in offering a great all-around experience for users looking for their first smartphone. We believe Redmi 5A is the smartphone for everyone.”
In terms of key specs, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display and supports a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Underneath its hood, there’s a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 which is paired with 2GB of RAM. The internal storage comes with a capacity of 16GB that is further expandable up to 128GB by using a microSD card slot.
On the optics front, the device comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an aperture of f/2.2. It also features burst mode, HDR mode, and panorama mode besides other exciting features. Up front, there’s a 5-megapixel snapper. On the battery front, the device is powered by 3,000mAh nonremovable battery which claims to offer up to a whopping 8-days of battery life on a single charge.
The Redmi 5A, the successor to the last Redmi 4A is banking heavily because it is ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’. Designed exclusively for Indian fans, the device comes with ultra-affordable price tags and as per company’s claim, the 2GB RAM/16GB storage version which comes with a price tag of Rs. 4,999 will soon after be available at Rs. 5,999.
