If the latest report is anything to go by, Xiaomi’s Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite go on sales in the Indian markets today. Almost a couple of weeks has passed ever since the Beijing-based Chinese tech conglomerate unveiled the smartphones. As per the availability of the devices, both Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite are up for purchase via Amazon India as well as Mi.com that began at 12 pm IST. Although the quantities are apparently limited, fans have to be quick enough to snag a unit. According to what Xiaomi claimed, it has sold 150,000 units of Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in just 3 minutes of time.
Coming to the specifications, the Redmi Y1 smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD display and supports a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The device comes with a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, the device houses an octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. The native storage comes with a capacity of 32GB which is further expandable up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card slot. The biggest highlight of the device is its optics features. On this front, Y1 device is packed with a 16-megapixel front camera (as reported here).
To recall the features of Redmi Y1 Lite, it bears a 5.5-inch HD screen and houses a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. On the optics front, there’s a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and PDAF. On contrary, there’s a 5-megapixel sensor. The phone is fueled by a battery of 3080mAh capacity.
As far as the pricing of the devices goes, Redmi Y1‘s 3GB of RAM + 32GB of native storage model is priced at Rs. 8,999. While on the other hand, the 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage version comes with a price tag of Rs. 10,999 (via Mi.com). On contrary, the Y1 Lite is available with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 (via Amazon India).
