While the iPhone 8 was fond of showing off its OLED display, the next-generation Apple iPhone will bring back at least one model with an LCD display. This is what Apple sources have to say. Apparently, Apple is looking forward to releasing a 6.1-inch display model which will have a TFT-LCD display. This comes just a day after we had reported how the 2018 Apple iPhones would have bigger OLED displays and dual-SIM support.
The latest report by MacRumors, which covers Apple very closely and which you can access here, has stated that Apple may already be working on a bigger device with a TFT-LCD display. You can also check the accompanying photo for reference. While the LCD model will apparently have a 6.1-inch display, the OLED models will boast screen sizes of 5.8 inches and 6.2 or possibly 6.3 inches. The iPhone model which will have the LCD display will also have a metal back. Also, this model will apparently be made available in many color variants, a la the existing aluminum iPhones. We believe that the body will be manufactured by Casetek, which is a Pegatron subsidiary.
The latest reports also substantially echo what Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities has said previously. Kuo has been proven to be correct time and again as far as the Apple business process is concerned. In fact, the next-gen iPhones may possibly have far improved cameras as well, as we have reported previously. All the three models of iPhones next year are likely to carry a full-screen and edge-to-edge display. We expect the presence of a TrueDepth camera system similar to the one that we saw atop the iPhone X. There is no word as to what type of casting material will be used in the upcoming models. Kuo has stated that the 6.1-inch LCD display iPhone will have an aluminum rear panel and will not support wireless charging. Apple’s business strategy does not always make sense, does it?
