Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 May Launch in January 2018

The long wait seems finally to be at an end. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to launch in India come January 2018. Incidentally, the Redmi Note 4, its immediate predecessor, had also launched this year in January. We had reported early this year that the upcoming Redmi Note 5 could have a massive 4,000 mAh battery. We have now been proven to be correct.

Xiaomi had recently launched the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus in India. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is supposed to be an outstanding device as well. It was spotted recently on an online retailer’s website and we had seen some of the indications that it would launch soon. It had seemed to have extremely thin bezels and it was supposed to be a very decent device.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has a very decent 5.99-inch Full HD (with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels) display that also has an 18:9 aspect ratio. Powering the device is a very decent 2.0GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor that works in tandem with the help of 3GB in the base variant and 4GB RAM in the more premium segment. It also offers 32GB and 64GB variants of internal storage.

This is a splendid 4G smartphone which runs on the on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system and is overlaid with the MIUI 9 on top. Like we said before, it is powered by a quality 4000 mAh Li-Polymer battery. Xiaomi had claimed that it can offer up to 72 hours of standby time.

As far as the cameras and optics are concerned, there is a 12-megapixel rear camera while, complementing it, is a 5-megapixel front shooter meant for selfies/video calling. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS, as well as GLONASS. The device has dual-SIM support. The price point is not known at this point in time. Stay tuned.
